Eryk, I'm really enjoying your thoughtful essays. The impacts of the disorienting power of AI hype is especially visible in the education space. Folks are tripping over themselves to throw millions of dollars of tax-payers' money at companies making bogus claims about their snake-oil powered products. Some of the most common bogus claims highlight speed: accelerate learning, accelerate literacy development. Optimize a program so its more efficient and runs more quickly and with less computing power, sure. Optimize cognitive development of a 6 year old by putting them on a mind-numbing edTech platform that claims to personalize their learning **and now with AI powered instructional BLING!** NOPE. It's just not a thing. And yet....

Thank you again for your perspective on this.

It's a very interesting thing to contemplate all these differing speeds moving all at the same time, where we can possibly choose to step between bullet train and ambling at nature-speed by a cognitive change in perspective.
